Writing is some of the most profound
art that any person can produce, so it is with great pleasure and
pride that we
are able to introduce the 15th edition of "Do the Write Thing." Congratulations
to those authors whose words grace these pages and to all who submitted!
This year "Do the Write Thing" was able to be presented
entirely electronically, from the submission to the evaluation process.
We are happy to say we are now internet savvy. In the spirit of change,
the selection process itself was done solely by an Editorial Team,
made up of students, with the support and guidance of Editorial Team
Leaders, their teachers. Now, for the first time, this year’s
publication was created and evaluated by YOU, the students, from
start to finish.
The creativity and heart-felt writings that we
had the opportunity to read were inspiring, eye-opening, tragic
and thought provoking.
All of them took an immense amount of courage to set pen to paper,
and for that we are grateful.
To all who were involved in any
form, at any stage of the process, we thank you for your contribution
and time to "Do the Write
Thing." The writing is important, but without the dedication
and help from those in the program, the writings would not be published.
Thank you, to the Editorial Teams and Leaders, and not to be forgotten,
the teachers who ignite and foster the students to write. A special
thank you to the SABES staff, especially to Cathy Gannon, Joanne
Harrington, Eunice Snay and Susan White for your long hours and
dedication.
This year, "Do the Write Thing" comes
to you new and improved on all fronts, but the soul of the program
is still the same - keep
being inspired and whatever you do, don't stop writing!
