It was December 2002. I was feeling nervous
and excited when I heard a
call on the airplane saying to us that we were arriving in the
land of
America. I left all my life in my country - parents, siblings
and my two
little daughters. I can't imagine how could be my life in this
new
country. I had not seen snow before, but the night before there
was a
snowstorm. When I came out of the airplane, I could see the ice
on top
of the houses and on the road. The weather was very cold, my
hands were
freezing, my nose was red and it was difficult for me to breathe.
My
body was trying to adjust to this new environment.
My life changed a lot in this country. The
adjustment in the job, to
learn a new language, to get my goals in my professional education
have
been hard for me. In contrast, I have learned many great experiences
in
my life since I came to this country. I am not the same person
since I
arrived in the U.S. I can trust more in God taking each step
in my life,
and I know that my dream in this country could come true someday...
somewhere...
