My English Class

Chantal Veilleux

I started an English class last September. I was very excited to go back to school, learn English and meet new people. Since I started to go to school, it's always a pleasure to be in class. I like the people who study with me and my teacher too.

It's very enjoyable in my class because it's like traveling around the world. People are from everywhere and I learn a lot from them. Together we are learning about our new country and we are sharing about our differences. It's always interesting to listen to people talking about their country and about how they live the differently in the new one. I admire their courage because they left everything and start a new life, some of them will not have the chance to go back in their country. Some language are so different than English and it's more difficult to learn. For me it's easier because in my country people speak English and I learned a little bit of English when I was in Canada. Also, I can go back anytime I want to see my family and my friends.

In my class, it's very dynamic because the teacher has a good way to teach us and people participate very well. Some students have a very good sense of humor and it makes the difference between an interesting or boring class. People are very kind and take care of eachother. I appreciated their kindness with me when my mother died this autumn.

We have very different accents when we speak English and sometimes it is difficult to understand eachother but day after day it's improving.

I like my class very much and it makes a big difference in my life since I started to go to school. I am learning English but the most important thing, I can share with people about my experience in my new country and it gives me the chance to go out of my home. I think it's a big treasure to have the chance of discovering different cultures.
