Hi! My name is Ynocencia Barriera. I was bon in the beautiful
island of
the Dominican Republic, which is also shared by the republic
of Haiti in
the Caribbean Sea
My country is a very big and beautiful place with lots of nice
sunny
beaches and very nice and friendly people.
Our main sources of income are cocoa, sugarcane and different
agricultural products like poultry, pigs, coffee and livestock.
Our
beautiful beaches and hotels are tourist attractions. A tourist's
paradise for its nice weather, casinos, and the Caribbean Sea
for
swimming and having some nice clean fun!
The very first Latin university in the New World was founded
in my
country by the Spaniards, the Autonomous University of Santo
Domingo.
The remains of Christopher Columbus are also buried there, the
island he discovered in 1492 on his first trip.
Our music is known as the meringue, bachata,
and other music from
neighboring islands, a hot spot to dance. Our baseball players
are the
best in the world in the Americana and National Leagues. Our
main dish
is rice ad beans, salad and fresh tropical fruits.
Our president is an American and Dominican educated
person. His name is
Dr. Lionel Fernandez I miss my country very much, also my family
who
still lives in the Islands. I am very grateful to this country
where I
met my husband, a native from Puerto Rico, a very nice and wonderful
man! May God bless you all!!
