The Christmas and New Year celebration
in all the parts of the
world are related with tradition and customs. In my country Venezuela
the principal objective of this celebration is the adoration
of baby
Jesus Nativity. Christmas Eve is December 24th at 12 o'clock
in the
night. The parties are meeting with the family. Some people receive
Christmas Eve in the church; this mass is called "Misa de
gallo" (rooster mass). After the mass everyone
goes to house with family to
hug and wish happy Christmas.
After midnight the table is ready to eat with different kinds
of food:
turkey, pork, etc., but the principal and traditional food is
the "
Hallacas."
When the dinner is concluded, the children go to the bed immediately
with the dreams that baby Jesus brings the gifts to wake up in
the
morning. Before Christmas, children made one letter to baby Jesus
to
ask for the gifts they want.
December 31st at 12 o'clock of the night is to celebrate "New
Year's
Eve." It is a party in every house and the people hug and
kiss. The
churches ring out all the bells. Many fireworks go off with every
noise
and happiness.
