My New Year’s Resolutions

Mary Climes

I guess everyone makes New Year’s Resolutions, so I’ll try, like everyone else.

One is to read the Bible two times a day. The Bible is a very difficult book to read. Being in school has helped me. I couldn’t read a work a couple of years ago, but there are words that I still have a hard time with. Even though it is difficult, I want to continue trying because I love the Bible.

My second resolution is to improve my health. I feel like I’m doing the best I can, but I will try to find more ways to help myself. I feel pretty nervous in my effort to meet this resolution. I think I need to take one day at a time. I have diabetes. I am frustrated with my body. I try to take my medicines on time and eat properly, but it is so difficult. I am very restricted – no salt, no cholesterol, few carbohydrates, no potassium. I get weary and still this disease won’t behave. I am even restricted on the kind of fruits and vegetables I can eat. My doctor wants me to eat 7 small meals a day. That’s hard to do when I’m not hungry. So I guess my second resolution is to make some diet notes and read more information on my disease, like Health Care and some books on health we have in class, watch some videos on diabetes and talk to my doctor more. This information may help me to make more changes that will help me improve my health. I will try to do it “one day at a time.” I wish me good luck!
